Tanzanite is a well-known gem mineral (more properly the blue/purple variety of the mineral Zoisite), which is found only in the Merelani Hills of Tanzania. Fine crystals are always in demand, and they are becoming some of the most desirable gem crystals in the world. This piece features a pair of sharp, lustrous, gemmy Tanzanite crystals which are notably bi-colored, showing a soft purple/lilac shade on the terminations, and a more traditional blue color on the lower portions. The crystals are notably tapered on the terminations and even though the lower portions of the crystals are a bit thin, they still exhibit pleochroism with a blue color when viewed from the front / "a" axis, and then purple can be seen when looking across the "b" axis.
