Item Description

Tanzanite is one of the most popular gems/minerals for collectors. It is the blue variety of Zoisite, and has only been found in one place in the world. Faceted Zoisite is one of the most popular gems for dealers, jewelers and collectors, and fine crystals are some of the most desirable gem crystals out there. This piece is a beautiful, sharp, lustrous, gemmy Tanzanite crystal from the world famous locality in the Merelani Hills. The crystal is very lustrous on all sides, and show deep striations all around, creating a beautiful "steppe" appearance on the terminations. The piece exhibits good pleochroism with a fine blue hue when viewed from the front / "a" axis, and then a purple color can be seen when looking across the "b" axis. Very good condition all around, though there is a spot on the termination where the crystal grew against the pocket wall, not damage, but an incomplete growth. Specimen weight is 23.6 grams.
