Item Description
Old-time, RARE zoisite from this obscure Austrian locale. Parallel-growth sections of lustrous, translucent, olive-green to olive-brown zoisite prisms are richly and aesthetically set in the quartz-rich matrix. Some of the sections are bent from tectonic activity, adding much artistic character. The long curved central crystal is 3.0 cm and there are sections of more crystals on the back. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 7273 and acquired from the Cisneros' in April, 1974. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Comes with three, century-old faded and burned labels from a Prague dealer. Desirable and rare old Austrian zoisite.
