Zoisite (ex Matioli)

Item Description

This piece was originally labeled as coming from Pakistan, but I'm sure it's from the Laghman Province, Afghanistan. Purple is a rare color in the mineral world, and good crystals of purple Zoisite are certainly hard to find. Tanzanite is predominantly blue, so actual purple Zoisite like this is very cool to see. This partial crystal has smooth, sharp faces with good luster and a crude termination. Ex Paolo Matioli Collection.
