Zircon (gemmy crystal)

Item Description

The famed Zircon crystal found on from Seiland Island in Norway are among the most well-known, classic and excellent examples of the species ever found. These pieces are found in a good sized nepheline syenite dike for a few decades at this point. This piece is a beautiful and showy matrix display specimen featuring a rather sharp, well-formed, lustrous, prismatic tetragonal crystal of Zircon measuring 8 mm sitting on black "Biotite" Mica matrix. The crystal is very gemmy when backlit, with a deep red hue. No damage that I can see, and the crystal is NOT repaired, which is significant, as they often can "pop" out of the matrix when they are removed from the ground.
