Item Description

2012 saw a find of distinctive, dark-maroon colored Zircons from the unusual Scottish locality of Upper Badcall. The main crystal is prismatic and blocky, 1 cm in size, and has a small amount of wear on one of the corners. Zircon is one of the few minerals with true adamantine luster, and it shows! Under the right light, it looks metallic and mirror like. The vivid, deep, golden fluorescence is also classic for the species. This miniature is excellent for the locality. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection. Tim specialized in trading, collecting, and buying Scottish minerals and travelled there himself for acquisition.
