Item Description
Please note that this specimen comes with an old Rocksmiths label that states it was from the "Hunza Tal" (Hunza Valley), but this was incorrect information given to dealers back in the day. With that said, this piece is a great example of the classic old Astor Zircons featuring an excellent, sharp, well-formed, isolated crystal of deep red Zircon measuring 1.6 cm across sitting on a matrix of white Calcite and black schist. The faces of the crystal are lustrous, with an almost "rippled" appearance on the surface. With moderate backlighting, you can see some decent internal gemminess as well. A small nick on the front corner can be seen, but it's a good sized crystal and a fine representation of these now hard to find Zircons that came out in the mid 1990s. I love how the Zircon is beautifully centered on the specimen and the piece sits nicely without the aid of a base or clay.
