Item Description

A classic example of the hard to find Zircon crytals from the Eureka Tunnel near St. Peters Dome. This old mine adit was at one time a fluorine producer, but over the years, people have found some attractive Zircon crystals. This particular piece features a pair of very sharp and lustrous, well-formed, compressed bi-pyramidal crystals with a dark purplish-brown hue. Very minor roughness, but great quality compared to most I've seen from the locality, as this one is sharper and more lustrous. If you collect thumbnails, Zircons or Colorado minerals, don't miss out on this one. It's an old time piece, and hard to replace in today's market. This piece comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). The specimen come with one of his classic typed labels on the bottom of "Perky" box.
