Item Description
These are some of the most iconic Zircons from any world locality, mostly because they're larger sized crystals and they're on matrix! Most Zircon crystals are either too small, too dark (opaque) or just loose singles, so I've had a soft spot for the pieces from Seiland Island. A pair of classic sharp, lustrous, well-formed, tetragonal Zircon crystals with a strong orange-red color on schist marix. Typically the Zircons from Seiland are not terribly gemmy, but the main crystal on this piece does pass light when backlit. A good representative piece of these classic Norwegian Zircons. The largest crystal measures 1.3 cm. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11684). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
