Item Description

Zircon is by no means a rare mineral, but it's quite difficult to find fine quality red Zircon crystals on matrix from any world locality. The pieces from Astor are well-known in the mineral world as some of the best red Zircon crystals on matrix. This piece features a few very sharp, highly lustrous, euhedral, strong red color crystals of Zircon measuring up to 1.3 cm on Mica/Quartz matrix. The color GLOWS when the crystals are backlit! A good quality specimen, with only a few small nicks. One does not see many of these specimens on the market anymore these days. If you're a collector of minerals from Pakistan, this is a good red Zircon to add to your collection. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
