Item Description

Any Colorado collector can tell you about the famous and unusual pegmatite locality of St. Peter's Dome where some unique and easily recognizable Zircon specimens have been found for many years. The locality at St. Peter's Dome is actually a Dana locality, and truly is one of the great old Colorado collecting sites. This specimen is a very attractive Zircon featuring many sharp, lustrous, distinct, pinkish-brown crystals measuring up to 1.0 cm long on matrix. Interestingly, the Zircons fluoresce an attractive yellow hue, which is not commonly seen in the species in my experience. These pieces are becoming very difficult to track down these days, and very little new material has been found over the last 20 years, so don't miss out on this Colorado classic. From the collection of Lee B. Burnett of Morrison Colorado (#LB172), who personally collected the piece in 1981.
