Zircon (doubly-terminated)

Item Description

A wonderful thumbnail specimen of Zircon from Brazil. The piece is a complete, doubly-terminated crystal, and nearly a "floater", though I can see a couple points of attachment where it presumably was connected to matrix or the pocket wall at some point. The color is a rich reddish-brown hue, and the faces are all smooth, lustrous and well-formed. I love the symmetry and equant proportions of the piece, a textbook crystal of Zircon. From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased.
