This is a fine quality, gorgeous and richly colored Zircon gem from Tanzania. This stone has a saturated pinkish color with a soft hint of an orange-peach overtone, and a brilliant almost metallic quality. You can see the classic birefringence (facet doubling) that Zircon displays in the photo. Zircon is becoming more and more popular among gem collectors and jewelers/gem dealers due to the fact that it occurs in a wide range of colors, plus it has a notably high refractive index and fire. It's important to note that Zircon is sometimes confused with Cubic Zirconia, which is a lab-grown Diamond simulant, whereas Zircon is a completely natural silicate mineral.
What makes it really special is the fact that it has a "Fantasy" cut. This style of cutting is where the underside/pavilion/culet area of the gem has actually been carved to create beautiful geometric patterns, freeform designs or unique shapes that are seldom seen in any colored stones on the market today.
