Item Description
A gorgeous, saturated faceted Zircon from Tanzania. This stone has a fantastic rich orange hue with a very slight pinkish over tone, and a brilliant almost metallic quality. The clarity of the stone is excellent, as I can't find any inclusions with the naked eye. The stone has an "ASSHER" cut, and when you look at it at a certain angle, you can see the classic birefringence (facet doubling) that Zircon displays in the photo. Zircon is becoming more and more popular among gem collectors and jewelers/gem dealers due to the fact that it occurs in a wide range of colors, plus it has a notably high refractive index and fire with good durability. It's important to note that Zircon is sometimes confused with Cubic Zirconia, which is a lab-grown Diamond simulant, whereas Zircon is a completely natural silicate mineral. This stone would make for an excellent pendant, and would look fabulous in white gold!
This gem was cut by Brett Kosnar of Kosnar Gem Co., who is a 4-time AGTA Spectrum Award winning gem cutter. The high retail price on this stone is $690.00.
