Item Description

Here we have a beautiful faceted Zircon from Sri Lanka, one of the leading nations of gem quality material over the last few decades. Zircon is a well-known gem, which has been documented for at least 2,000+ years as Theophrastus wrote about it approximately 300 years BCE under the name "lyncurion". I want to point out that some people confuse natural Zircon with cubic zirconia (a synthetic diamond simulant), so the demand for fine Zircon gems isn't as high as it probably should be, because some people are afraid to buy natural Zircon stones thinking they are synthetic. One of the great characteristics of Zircon is that it has a high refraction and fire, so the gems really can sparkle. Under halogen lighting, Zircons can show excellent brilliance and flash. This stone features a lovely soft yellow-golden color with nearly eye-clean clarity and an "Oval Step" cut. A classic, natural, un-treated Zircon from a part of the world that has been producing excellent Zircon gems for many years.
