Item Description

Some of the most iconic, well-known and fine quality Zircon crystals are those from Seiland Island in Norway. They are certainly among the most classic and excellent examples of the species ever found. These beautiful and distinctive crystals have excellent form and color, along with the definitive schist matrix. These piece are found in a good sized nepheline syenite dike where the crystals have been coming out for a few decades. This piece is a beautiful and showy matrix thumbnail sized specimen featuring a rather sharp, well-formed, lustrous tetragonal crystal of Zircon measuring 1.3 cm sitting on black "Biotite" Mica. The crystal is somewhat gemmy when backlit, with a deep reddish hue. No major damage that I can see on the display side, and the crystal is NOT repaired, which is significant, as they often can "pop" out of the matrix.
