Zircon

This is a beautiful Zircon gem from Tanzania. The stone has rich orange-pink color, and a brilliant almost metallic quality. The clarity of the stone is excellent, and it has a rarely seen "Hexagon" cut. You can see the classic birefringence (facet doubling) that Zircon displays in the photo. Zircon is becoming more and more popular among gem collectors and jewelers/gem dealers due to the fact that it occurs in a wide range of colors, plus it has a notably high refractive index and fire. It's important to note that Zircon is sometimes confused with Cubic Zirconia, which is a lab-grown Diamond simulant, whereas Zircon is a completely natural silicate mineral.
