Item Description

The historic and iconic Zircon crystal from Seiland Island are among the most well-known, classic and excellent examples of the species ever found. These beautiful and distinctive specimens are instantly recognizable for their form and color, along with the definitive matrix. There is a good sized nepheline syenite dike where these crystals have been found for a few decades. This piece is a beautiful and showy matrix display specimen featuring several rather sharp, well-formed, lustrous tetragonal crystals of Zircon measuring up to 2.2 cm with very minor black "Biotite" Mica. The edges of crystals are translucent when backlit, with a deep reddish-brown hue. No major damage that I can see on the display side (contacted on the back where the piece was removed from the pocket wall), and the crystals are NOT repaired, which is significant, as they often can "pop" out of the matrix.
