Item Description

Zircon is a well-known gemstone that has been documented for at least 2,000+ years as Theophrastus wrote about it approximately 300 years BCE under the name "lyncurion". Some people confuse natural Zircon with cubic zirconia (a synthetic diamond simulant), so the demand for fine Zircon gems isn't as high as it probably should be. One of the great characteristics of Zircon is that it has a high refraction and fire, so the gems really can sparkle. Under halogen lighting, Zircons can show excellent brilliance and flash. This stone is from Sri Lanka, and features a beautiful yellow-golden color with nearly eye-clean clarity and an "Oval Step" cut. A classic, natural, un-treated Zircon from a part of the world that has been producing excellent Zircon gems from decades.
