Item Description
A very good specimen from famous San Jose Mine in Bolivia. This piece was mined in 2002, and is a great large miniature / small cabinet of this now hard to find material. It features dozens of excellent quality, rare, prismatic, silvery-grey "needles" of Zinkenite which are associated with tiny dark grey-black crystal clusters of Ferrokësterite. We have photographed the Ferrokësterite crystals with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate the quality. This combination is exceptionally hard to find in nature, and the San Jose Mine produced unquestionably the finest examples of Ferrokësterite in the world, but the focus of this piece is more about the Zinkenite. There were very few of these specimens, and this one comes directly from Brian Kosnar's personal Bolivian collection, as he obtained it at the mine when it was found.
