Item Description
Zinkenite is rare from the United States. Specimens are almost impossible to find from any locality, and they are often poorly crystallized and "lumpy". THIS piece however is a superb example of the elusive and highly sought after Zinkenites from King County. This miniature is loaded with dozens of brilliant, silvery-grey colored "needles" of Zinkenite which are associated with Quartz and free of matrix. The piece very aesthetic and showy, and displays wonderfully as you can see from the photos. If you collect rare species, sulfosalts or minerals of Washington State, don't miss out on this incredibly hard to find, excellent quality miniature from this lesser known former gold, silver and lead mine. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10622) with an old label from dealer Bart Cannon. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
