Zinkenite (rare locality, rich xls)

Item Description

Jackstraw nests, parallel-growth clusters and a plethora of isolated needles of sparkly, bright silver metallic zinkenite are richly scattered on the front and back of the sculptural large calcite and sulfide matrix. The needles reach about 1.0 cm. Zinkenite, a Pb-Sb sulfosalt is known from this Cu-Au deposit, along with numerous other sulfide species, but large, rich specimens of this quality are uncommon. The needles have been etched out by the enclosing calcite with acid. A rare locality piece.
