Gorgeous, gemmy, cherry-red zincite crystals richly cover both sides of the contrasting calcite matrix on this SUPERB thumbnail from the famous Sterling Hill Mine of New Jersey. This is classic and very desirable material from this famed locality, probably dating to the early to mid 1900s. The calcite fluoresces pink, as you would expect. Valued at $1250-1500, due to the richness, rarity and sharpness of the zincite crystals. Ex George Ellling Collection, a noted Franklin/Sterling Hill collector. This may be a small piece, but the crystal is of high quality.
