Item Description
For its size, this is one of the most elegant and sharp zincite specimens I have seen. The bright, translucent, cherry red crystal, 2.0 cm in length, is aesthetically perched on matrix. It has a clean repair midways and a trivial bit of termination wear, but its hard to see and all in context here, doesn't bother me so much to know its there (its very hard to see!). This rare specimen is obviously an old timer as very little has come from Franklin since the 1940s. Just magnificent! I first had this piece 12-13 years ago and got it back recently, in a thumbnail collection purchase. Small world! I remembered it, though, as its one of the more memorable display quality thumbs of the species around. Still and all, displays like a world-class thumbnail of the species and is a historic piece where you have to take such things in context, I feel. Crystals of this sharpness and isolation are rare. Valued at $1450.
