Zincite with Willemite (classic material)

Item Description

Two of the most recognized species from Franklin are Zincite and Willemite. This small cabinet piece is a wonderful association specimen featuring a rich group deep blood-red, sharp, lustrous, slightly gemmy Zincite crystals associated with pale yellowish-green Willemite. Under UV light, the Willemite glows an intense green hue, typical of the material from Franklin. The Zincite is very good quality, as there are many discernible smooth crystals faces to be seen on both sides. Both Franklin and Sterling Hill are credited as the type locality for Zincite, and although the species has been reported from dozens of other world localities, you would be hard pressed to find a single crumb of Zincite on the market that isn't from the Franklin Mining District.
