Item Description

The term "Calcozincite" refers to a mixture of Zincite and Calcite (primarily from Franklin, New Jersey) which according to mindat.org features "Numerous embedded fibers of tremolite asbestos and/or sussexite {which} give the whole mass a columnar fibrous appearance. Frequently found as a material lining slickensides fractures" The piece is a thin slab of this attractive material with a characteristic orange hue in the center and a white color on the broad exterior edges. Hard to find on the market today, and a must have for any fan of Franklin minerals. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#614) with an old hand-written label from Louis Reamer. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
