Item Description
Zincite is one of the most recognizable species from Franklin. Typically, crystals are small and sometimes nondescript, but this one is fairly large, thick and well-formed, showing hexagonal crystalline structure. The piece is free of matrix, and shows crystal faces on all sides with that classic rich red Franklin color. A very impressive example of the species from this most classic of east coast localities! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11469). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
