Item Description

Very uncommon, showy, old-time combination from the famous Franklin Mine. The sculptural small cabinet is rich in platy reddish-brown Zincite and gray-white Calcite. Sections of ash-gray Tephroite crystals, an Olivine Group species and a bit of Willemite are noted. Tephroite is rare from the Franklin Mine, but the nearby Sterling Mine is the Type Locality for the species. Neon-orange calcite and neon-green willemite fluorescence. Ex. Lawson H. Bauer Collection (1889-1954). Lawson was Chief Chemist of the New Jersey Zinc Company and there is a 1941 date on one of the labels. Later in the Tony Nikischer Collection. Ex Richard Rossi Collection. Richard is a Senior Fellow of the Mineralogical Record. This rare and excellent combination classic has a fine provenance. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
