Zincian Siderite (rare) on Germanite ore (Belsky Coll.)

Item Description

Cherry-red, glassy, zincian siderite is a rare accessory mineral from the deeper "germanite section" of the famous and now-closed Tsumeb Mine. A 6 mm wide cluster of gemmy, intergrown rhombs is jauntily placed on the wedge of sparkly, microcrystalline germanite ore. Ex Howard Belsky Collection. Howard started as a mineral dealer at age 13 in 1972, became a sophisticated dealer and died tragically at age 28 in 1987. His collection recently became available to us through his family.
