Item Description

Zaratite is a very rare nickel hydroxy carbonate and some of the best known examples are those from Tasmania. This particular specimen is labeled as coming from Zeehan, with no specific mine mentioned, so if anybody out there has some information as to specifically where this piece is from, please feel free to reach out and let us know. Zaratite is named after Antonio Gil y Zarate, a Spanish dramatist who died in 1861. This piece features patched of crystalline/amorphous green and yellow (dehydrated?) Zaratite on host rock matrix. A cool piece for any rare species collector.
