Item Description
These are very rare specimens of the copper aluminum hydrated hydroxy phosphate, Zapatalite, named for Emiliano Zapata who was a leading figure in the Mexican Revolution, the main leader of the peasant revolution in the state of Morelos, and the inspiration of the agrarian movement called Zapatismo. This piece is from the well documented locality on Portugal, the Miguel Vacas Mine featuring blue-green botryoids of Zapatalite on Quartz matrix. This is arguably the most well known occurrence for the species, and the best examples of this mineral found here. Very rare to find on the market, and worth picking up if you're a rare species collector. Ex Paolo Matioli Collection.
