Item Description

These are some of the best Zanazzite crystals in the world. This rare phosphate is only found in a handful of worldwide localities, and typically you only see a few isolated aggregates on matrix. THIS piece however is loaded with dozens of olive-green Zanazziite groups which cover both sides of the specimen. Most the them are about 3 mm across, but it's the sheer density of Zanazziite (along with the size of the groups) that makes this piece so impressive. I've seen plenty of Brazilian pieces of Zanazziite, and while they might have better color, I can't remember seeing so much of it on one specimen as is the case with this beautiful cabinet display specimen. Associated minerals include Apatite, Hydroxylherderite, Cookite and Albite. It was mined in 1993. This is a significant Maine phosphate specimen, the likes of which will probably never be seen again. If you collect phosphates, New England minerals (even just Maine minerals) or unique examples of rare species, you can't afford to miss out on this one. Value??
