Item Description

A very rare specimen of Zálesíite, a calcium copper hydroxy arsenate mineral, named after the type locality, the Zálesí Uranium Deposit in the Czech Republic in 1997. This piece is from the opposite side of the world, the famous Atacama Desert, specifically the Tucumana Mine. Upon close examiniation, you can see a few vugs containing beautiful green colored radiating "sprays" of Zálesíite on host rock matrix. Velvety botryoidal Conichalcite is also easy to spot on the specimen, and one of the labels accompanying the piece states that associated Rutile and Fluorapatite are also present. A great rarity that looks good under magnification, and we've photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better show the quality.
Ex Gerry Morvell collection.
