Item Description
Large dominant scalenohedral Calcite crystal, measuring 7.2 cm., with a smaller, 4.2 cm., sidecar crystal both completely covered with a thick layer of sparkling dark purple microcrystalline yttrium-rich Fluorite commonly known as Yttrofluorite. The Calcite is translucent and is mostly white to light tan but it is so densely engulfed with Yttrofluorite that there are very few windows to observe it. There is also some minor secondary water clear Calcite towards the base of the specimen. The near pristine piece is an exceptional example of this find from around 2021. So many of these pieces have thin or preferential coatings but this Yttrofluorite has an uncommon 360 degree coating almost complete to the base. Minor gypsum seems to accent and add sparkle atop it all. A wonderful Yttrofluorite with as richly saturated dark purple color as it gets.
