Yttrofluorite on Calcite (new finds)

A single, large, 8 cm, robust, scalenohedral Calcite crystal is perched on a matrix covered with smaller Calcite crystals, all of which are sprinkled with dark purple Yttrofluorite crystals in layers and patterns. The prominent Calcite crystal measures 6 cm in length and 4 cm across and is heavily embellished with hundreds of tiny, less than 1 mm, super dark purple Yttrofluorite crystals that flash in every orientation! Many of the smaller Calcite crystals are also adorned with the tiny Yttrofluorite crystals, largely at the tips of the scalenohedrons. This is an attractive and unusual combination specimen from finds in China in 2021 that really set a new standard for this formerly very rare species. They are superb for yttrofluorite, but perhaps more notable simply as REALLY sparkly purple calcite combination pieces! This was a nice surprise, something truly new, from China during the last few years. Valued $3500-4500, as this is a very good one and at the high end of the quality range compared to most that came out. The best quality came out in early-2021, although lesser material has continued to trickle out since.
