Item Description
A rare, sculptural, elongated, 21.59 gram meteorite from near Mataranka, Northern Territory, Australia. We believe the piece is from the nearby Yenberrie Meteorite discovery. The Yenberrie Meteorite was found in 1918. The piece is classified as a octahedrite. Octahedrites are the most common structural class of iron meteorites (WIKIPEDIA).The colorful fusion crust adds to the allure of the piece. Ex Tim Sherburn Collection and acquired from the respected Mineralogical Research Company in 1986 (label included). Mass is 21.59 grams. A representative example of this meteorite fall.
