Item Description
From the world famous locality for Tanzanite, here we have a notably unusual color for the material. Tanzanite is defined as the blue / purple variety of Zoisite, though the various mines around Merelani have produced some odd colors of Zoisite in recent years, which are not technically Tanzanite, but they are certainly desirable. This piece features an odd, almost "fan"-like group of sharp, lustrous, gemmy, bladed crystals of rare yellow Zoisite forming a beautiful thumbnail specimen. The gaps between each blade give the piece true character, and the piece looks better in person as it was difficult to accurately photograph. It's complete all the way around, though there are a few minor nicks on the front that keep it from being 100% damage free. A really cool thumbnail in terms of habit and color. From the worldwide thumbnail / miniature collection of Irv Brown. Valued at $800.
