Item Description

Although Tourmaline is found in all colors of the rainbow, it could be said that yellow is quite possibly the most difficult to find. These gems are sometimes labeled as "Tsilaisite", and are found in only a few isolated localities in the world. They are among my favorite Tourmaline gems for the fact that not only the color rare, but it's one of the few yellow gems out there (especially if you eliminate Citrine and Sapphire). This stone has a distinct yellow (with a slight greenish overtone) color in sunlight, which is very difficult to find in Tourmalines. The color certainly looks more green under fluorescent / mercury lighting, so please keep this in mind as the stone does perform a bit of a color shift. The stone has some slight inclusions, but it's important to remember that Tourmaline is classified as a "Type 3" gemstone, which means inclusions are almost always present, and accepted by dealers and collectors. What makes it really special is the fact that it has a "Fantasy" cut. This style of cutting is where the underside/pavilion/culet area of the gem has actually been carved to create beautiful geometric patterns, freeform designs or unique shapes that are seldom seen in any colored stones on the market today. The gem was cut by Brett Kosnar, who is a 4-time AGTA Spectrum Award winning gem cutter.
Priced at $514.50 retail.
