Item Description
Xonotlite is a rare calcium silicate and bultfonteinite is a very rare hydrated calcium silicate with fluorine. This is an outstanding, rare and very aesthetic small cabinet combination from the famous Wessels Mine. Soft to the touch creamy xonotlite puffballs are sculpturally mounded atop a very rare style of sharp, glassy bultfonteinite crystals. Mostly you see the acicular crystals or rounded balls of powdery bultfonteinite crystals. This looks like crystallized willemite from Tsumeb, and is quite solid and different. The few broken xonotlite puffballs reveal the striking radial growth of the pearlescent needles, adding much pizzazz and character. This is a superlative and rare example of this combination from this locale from an East Coast collection. The former dealer label has a May, 1994 date and a $2500 price.
