Item Description

A cool rare-earth association specimen from the famous Mount Malosa locality in Malawi featuring small yellow, tetragonal prisms of Xenotime-(Y) associated with earthy colored crystals of Zircon (which I would wager contain some kind of rare-earth element(s)) that have the same prismatic tetragonal habit as the Xenotime-(Y) crystals along with minor dark orange-brown pseudo-hexagonal crystals of Parisite-(Ce) which have a light greenish hue (oxidation) on the surface and a couple of dark reddish-brown octahedral crystals of "Pyrochlore" (Pyrochlore Supergroup) sitting on cream colored Microcline matrix with prismatic black crystals of Aegirine. The crystals on this specimen are best seen with magnification, and we've photographed the piece with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better show off the quality.
