Item Description
The world-class crystals of the uncommon yttrium phosphate, Xenotime from Novo Horizonte, Brazil are so large and fine for the species, that I honestly mistook them for Zircon crystals when I first saw them. Xenotime crystals of this size are very difficult to find and if you do find them, they're often dull and rounded, so not only is this a big and fine quality crystal for the locality, it's very impressive for the species in general worldwide. The piece is complete all around with wonderful dark gold-brown color and a tiny bit of translucency on the edges when backlit. Additionally, the piece has decent luster and textbook tetragonal form with a beautiful pyramidal terminations. A very nice miniature sized specimen of this well known material from Brazil. Valued $950.
From the collection of Vasco Trancoso, a medical doctor and prominent mineral collector from near Lisbon, Portugal (https://www.mindat.org/user-11954.html). He assembled his mineral collection over the course of 60 years, and built a fine worldwide display collection that we recently purchased. This piece is pictured on https://www.mindat.org/photo-188060.html
