Item Description
Since the late 1990s, Zagi Mountain has been the source of some of the most unique and interesting minerals from any locality in Pakistan. Xenotime-(Y), a rare yttrium phosphate that is a minor accessory mineral in igneous rocks, is one of this suite's most sought after minerals. This excellent, 1.8 cm orange Xenotime, nearly doubly-terminated, sits on an oxidized and granular granitic matrix that is rich in Calcite. It is elongated and on matrix, which is rare. Note the elongated prismatic termination, which helps differentiate from bastnaesite. The Calcite has the intense, luminous, fiery-orange fluorescence that is known for. Showy, highly-representative material from the famous Zagi Mountain. Valued $500-plus.
