Xenotime-(Y) (fine crystal)

I have to be candid, when I picked up this specimen, I genuinely mistook it for a Zircon because it's so large, sharp, lustrous and well-formed that I didn't even think it could be a Xenotime. You almost never see Xenotime crystals of this size, but if you do, they're often dull and rounded, so not only is this a big and fine quality Xenotime crystal for the locality, it's very impressive for Xenotime in general worldwide. The piece is notably smooth and complete all around with wonderful dark gold-brown color and a tiny bit of translucency on the edges when backlit. Additionally, the piece has wonderful reflective luster and textbook tetragonal form with a beautiful pyramidal termination. A fantastic thumbnail sized specimen of this well known material from Brazil. Priced in the inventory at $900.
