Xenotime (excellent crystal group)

Item Description

When I first saw this specimen, I mistook it for a Zircon because it's so large, sharp, and well-formed that I didn't even think it could be a Xenotime. Not only is this a big Xenotime crystal for the locality, it's large for Xenotime in general worldwide. The piece is notably smooth and complete all around with wonderful reddish-brown color and a bit of gemminess on the edges when backlit. Additionally, the piece has wonderful reflective luster and textbook tetragonal form with beautiful pyramidal terminations. A fantastic thumbnail sized specimen of this well known material from Brazil. If you flip the piece over, you can actually see there are small terminations on the underside, making this a doubly-terminated / multi-terminated near "floater" specimen.
