Item Description
Xanthoconite is a rare sulfosalt, being silver arsenic sulfide. It is a dimorph or different crystal form of proustite. This old, showy piece features sparkly red clusters of xanthoconite microcrystals very richly and aesthetically scattered amidst parallel-growth blades of a wedge of two-toned barite from the famous old German Type Locality in the Erzgebirge - the Alte Hoffnung Gottes Mine in the Freiberg District. Valued at $900-1000. VERY RARE!
