Item Description

Xanthoconite is a rare sulfosalt - silver arsenic sulfide. It is a dimorph or different crystal form with the same chemistry, of proustite. This outstanding example is highlighted by two, large for the locale and species, lustrous, translucent, wine-red, masses of microcrystals and crusts attractively set on a vein of intergrown barite blades. The large cluster is 1.2 cm long. Very choice and undoubtably old-time combination material from this historic Type Locality district. Ex Sorbonne Museum Collection with matching numbers.
