Item Description
This is a very attractive thumbnail size specimen from this storied mine. This piece features a pair of tabular, sharp, lustrous, orange color, "window pane" habit crystals of Wulfenite associated with stark, red, single, sheaf-like and "bow-tie"-shaped crystals of Mimetite. It has been my experience that Mimetite associated with Wulfenite from this mine is rather rare, and I must say that I've never seen Mimetite so red in my life. I've photographed the Mimetite crystals under the microscope, and they oddly look more orange in the photos, but you can tell that they're RED in person. It is a worthwhile representative piece of this classic material I will say that the piece is over 40 years old and is one of the most attractive Red Cloud specimens I've had to offer in a while. A nice specimen from one of the single most famous localities in the Western United States. Considering that this locality has been completely buried over and never will be mined again, we may never see these specimens anymore.
