Wulfenite with Mimetite

Photos and video speak for themselves, so we need say little about this large display sized thumbnail specimen of wulfenite from the classic finds of the 1970s. Simply a Killer! Shockingly aesthetic combination of transparent lustrous orange-gem wulfenite 1.6 cm across, perched like a stained glass sun atop rolling hills; and below which is a cluster of contrasting fiery-orange mimetite crystals and smaller wulfenites. These are true windowpane wulfenites, literally considered to be the finest examples of their species in the world by most collectors, and preserved for nearly 50 years since Wayne Thompson and friends collected this WulfMim pocket in the 1970s. Obtained from an old German collection being sold by Wolfgang and Karin Wendel, at the Munich show. A famous specimen displayed in, “The Best of the Best: Prize Minerals from the Vaults of Arizona Collectors”, held at the University of Arizona’s Flandrau Science Center & Planetarium, from February 8 to December 23, 2014, with label.
