Wulfenite with Mimetite

Wulfenite with Mimetite is not an uncommon association in secondary lead deposits, but these particular pieces from the Ojuela Mine are superb in both their crystal form/quality and color. This special piece comes from a find in 2008, and features sharp, lustrous prismatic, bipyramidal Wulfenite crystals measuring up to 8 mm which are sitting atop a matrix of rolling, botryoidal, velvety, rich green colored Mimetite. Keep in mind that green is not a common shade for Mimetite, especially such a deep hue like this. From this particular find, only about 20 pieces out of 400 found had any association with the Mimetite in quality. Of them, this is one of the two best specimens. It is an incredible display piece as well as significant for both species and locality. Valued $1,750.
