Item Description
An incredibly hard to find specimen of Wulfenite labeled as coming from "Xichang, Sichuan, China", i.e., the Xichang REE Occurrence, Taihe intrusion, Xichang County, Liangshan Yi, Sichuan, China featuring dozens of sharp, lustrous, well-formed, beautiful orange colored pyramidal crystals of Wulfenite measuring to about 2 mm, associated with thin crystals of white Baryte on matrix. The Wulfenites are gorgeous under magnification and we've included some macro photos to help illustrate their quality and beauty. This is the ONLY specimen of this material that I can remember having to offer, and it's exactly the kind of piece you can only get in these deep old comprehensive collections like Kurt's. Don't miss out, this piece was mined in the late 1990s-early 2000s (the fact that it was number "15" in Kurt's Chinese collection means it was a very early entry dating back probably at least 25 years ago), and you're not likely to see another one anytime soon on the market. If you collect Wulfenites or minerals from China, this is a cool rare locality specimen that is virtually impossible to find on the market today.
From the collection of Kurt Hefendehl (#15 C), a well-known German collector all over Europe with worldwide contacts to dealers and collectors. He started collecting seriously at the age of 14 and his great and varied worldwide collection reached over 6000 pieces. He was very active mineralogically until shortly before his passing in 2020 at the age of 82. Considering his collection had a large number of pieces, it still had an unusually high standard of quality from most worldwide localities. He particularly specialized in all classics as well as minerals of the Black Forest, where he spent much time collecting. His Black Forest and German subcollections went to his good friend Wolfgang Wendel. We at The Arkenstone have the privilege of offering the remainder of this great worldwide collection over the next two to three years through our various platforms.
